Welcome to the Town of Kittery’s website on Protecting Kittery Waters. Our current focus centers on cleaning up, slowing down and limiting stormwater pollution from both residences and businesses, mostly in the Spruce Creek Watershed. However, the resources on this site apply to anyone – we all live in a watershed and we can all be part of the solution to pollution. We encourage you to explore this website to learn more about our watersheds, their history, the wildlife they support, and our potential impacts on them (good and bad). And if you’re willing to help out, we always need help stuffing envelopes, hosting learning parties, planting plants, and much more – just contact us if you’d like to get involved.
The Town of Kittery also does work to meet the standards of the Clean Water Act under the MS-4 Ruling. The Kittery Stormwater project website offers information about the MS-4 General Permit, Kittery’s responsibilities, and links to more resources.
Take the Pledge
What you do in and around your home impacts your watershed. Even the smallest home and yard changes can make a big difference along your waterfront and possibly save you money. Protect_Kittery_Waters_Pledge to commit to protect Kittery’s water resources.
The Spruce Creek Watershed Improvement Project is funded by the Maine Department of Environmental Protection through the 319 Grant Program.
